CARAT
The weight of a diamond
Carat is a unit of measurement used to represent the weight of a diamond. One carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams or 0.007 ounces.
Whilst Carat weight is associated with the weight of a diamond, it is essential to understand that Carat is just one of the original 4C's that determine a diamond’s overall value. The other 3C's are Cut, Colour, and Clarity, and they all work together to make up a diamond's value.
Our Bow Diamonds logo focuses on diamond quality, not diamond weight, and therefore our logo does not represent weight (ie Carat) as part of its grading scale.
However, now, as more laboratory grown diamonds are commercially available,
it is important to differentiate between these and naturally mined diamonds due to value and rescource differences so our grading scale does represent this.
See, 'type & colour' in our logo guide for more information.
