Why Bow Diamonds?
Diamonds have been valued and coveted for thousands of years but it was only in the 1950's when the
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) formally created it's universally recognised diamond grading system, known as the 4C's.
This system is now the industry standard for diamond grading throughout the world.
There are natural mined diamonds and laboratory grown diamonds,
and both have their own following of fans for a variety of reasons, some being:
For natural diamonds - Uniqueness, limited supply and rarity, geological process to find, production, history.
&
for laboratory grown diamonds - Excellent price, ethical production, technological advances, lower carbon footprint.
Both types of diamonds are graded and priced with the most important aspects being The 4C's - Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat.
Along with Type i.e. whether a laboratory or natural mined diamond, these are regarded as the
main ways to evaluate a diamonds quality and value.
Once diamonds have been evaluated, and their quality grades decided upon, it is not possible with the naked
eye to identify a diamonds Type and Cut, Colour and Clarity when they are set in jewellery.
However, Bow Diamonds have developed our jewellery to use our special logo as a grading system,
and to visually show the Type and Cut, Colour & Clarity of a diamond.
Carat is the measurement of a diamod's size, not it's quality.
Therefore identifying the attributes of these beautiful stones in all our jewellery.
